The RMS boarding community is an authentic international community of young women. The core of our boarding is British and we have a balanced mixture of other nationalities to enrich our school family. We are very careful to ensure that no one group of overseas boarders is over-represented because we want to guarantee that all our boarders mix freely and so learn from each other.

Das Leben auf einem englischen Internat ist eine einmalige und unvergessliche Erfahrung. Eine Erfahrung die ich jedem nur empfehlen kann, sei es nur für ein paar Monate oder gar ein ganzes Jahr! Es mag zunächst etwas erschreckend klingen, dass man sich morgens zum Appell aufreiht bevor im eindrücklichen Speisesaal gefrühstückt wird. Generell sind die Regeln hier etwas strenger als wir es uns ausserhalb dieser Insel gewohnt sind – aber man gewöhnt sich schnell dran. Ich bin nun schon seit etwas mehr als einem Jahr hier, da ich mich entschieden habe im britischen Schulsystem zu bleiben und sehe mit Bangen dem Tag entgegen an dem ich RMS verlassen muss.
Mein Jahr hier war eines mit Höhen und Tiefen und Menschen die immer für einen da sind. Man macht wirklich Freunde fürs Leben! Durch das, dass wir zusammen zur Schule gehen, zusammen wohnen und uns zusammen nach zu Hause sehnen entstehen Freundschaften wie sie sonst nicht möglich wären. Aber über den Spass den wir haben und das gemeinsames Lachen vergisst man sein Heimweh schon mal. Und wenn nicht ist ein ganzes Haus zum trösten bereit. Für viele von uns sind Eltern und Geschwister hunderte von Meilen weit weg und die Hausmütter haben Erfahrung im Teekochen, das Wunderheilmittel für alles! Es ist wie eine grosse Familie weg von zu Hause.
Man lernt jeden Tag etwas neues und entdeckt ganz andere Seiten an sich selbst. Die Royal Masonic School for Girls hat unglaublich viel zu bieten und ist mit einem fantastischen support system wohl einer der besten Orte überhaupt die man sich für ein Auslandssemester wünschen kann. Ich bereue kein Bisschen hergekommen zu sein und würde die Erfahrungen und Freundschaften die ich hier gemacht habe um nichts in der Welt mehr hergeben!

Mein Name ist Pauline und ich verbringe gerade (leider) meine letzten Tage an der RMS. Mein Jahr hier war einfach... unbeschreiblich. Sowohl Lehrer als auch Schüler sind sehr nett und freundlich und ich hatte keine Probleme Freunde zu finden! Es dauert zwar eine Weile bis man sich eingelebt hat, (z.B. immer das richtige Zimmer in der riesigen Schule finden, das englische Essen, das zwar gut aber anfangsziemlich gewöhnungsbedürftig ist, das andere Schulsystem und natürlich die Sprache) aber im Endeffekt ist es einfach nur toll!
Es hat mir auch auf jeden Fall etwas gebracht, eine Zeit lang in einem Internat zu leben! Wir hatten viele Freiheiten und waren am Wochenende immer in London, was mit der U Bahn nur eine halbe Stunde entfernt liegt. Meine Housemistress war supernett und hat mir immer (meist erfolgreich) geholfen, wenn ich Anliegen hatte. Der Unterricht hat mir persönlich mehr Spaß gemacht als in Deutschland, da die Klassen kleiner und die Lehrer viel motivierter sind! Außerdem waren alle, Schüler und Lehrer, sehr hilfsbereit – auch ausserhalb der Schulzeiten.
Außerschulisch hat es mir auch an nichts gefehlt. Ich habe sehr viel Sport getrieben, habe sogar manchmal Einzelunterricht bekommen und habe mich in denverschiedensten Sportarten ausprobiert. Dadurch, dass es so viele Clubs gab, konnte ich viel neues ausprobieren, wozu ich zu Hause gar keine Chance gehabt hätte.
Im Großen und Ganzen kann ich sagen, dass es genau die richtige Entscheidung war, ein Jahr in England an der RMS zu verbringen und würde es auf jedem Fall jedem weiter empfehlen!

My name is Pauline and I spend even (unfortunately) my last day on the RMS. My year here was just ... indescribable. Both teachers and students are very nice and friendly and I had no problems finding friends! It takes a while for a while has been living up to you, (always the right room, for example in the huge school found that English food, the good but is initially quite used to, the other school system and of course the language) but in the end it is simply just great!
It has brought me definitely something, a long time to live in a boarding school! We had a lot of freedom and were always on the weekend in London, which lies with the underground railway only a half hour. My Housemistress was super nice and made me always (mostly successfully) helped if I had concerns. The lessons I have personally been more fun than in Germany because the classes are smaller and the teachers much more motivated! In addition, all pupils and staff, very helpful - even outside of school hours. Extracurricular I missed it too for nothing. I've driven a lot of sports, sometimes I even get private lessons and I have tried in various sports. Because there were so many clubs, I could not try many new things, which I would have had no chance at home. On the whole I can say that it was exactly the right decision to spend a year in England on the RMS and would recommend it to every event on each!

Lieber Leser, Liebe Leserin,
ich bin jetzt fast einen 'Term' in England und gehe auf die Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth. Ich bin 14 Jahre alt, gehe hier in die 11. Klasse und belege die Fächer: Englisch, Deutsch für Anfänger, Mathematik, Physik, Chemie, Biologie, Kunst & Design, Textiles und zwei Sportkurse.
Von dem Schulsystem bin ich sehr begeistert. Das Lernen fällt mir an dieser Schule leichter, als an meiner Schule in Deutschland. Auch an meinem Zeugnis spiegelt sich das wieder.
Ohne Ausnahmen sind die Mädchen sehr liebenswürdig und hilfsbereit. Während des Schulalltages gibt es keine 'coolen' und 'uncoolen' Mädchen. Sie halten alle zusammen und jeder wird respektiert. Die Schule legt darauf besonders viel Wert. Mitgefühl, Respekt, Hilfsbereitschaft, Freundlichkeit, Verantwortung und Pünktlichkeit werden groß geschrieben.
Als Internatsschülerin fühle ich mich auch sehr gut aufgehoben. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend groß und sauber. Zum Glück wird einem genügend Gelegenheit gegeben sich von dem Schulstress zurückzuziehen. Man kann in der Woche in kleinen, oder größeren Gruppen in das Dorf gehen und sich eine kleine Auszeit gönnen. Jeden Samstag gibt es dann Angebote mit vielen Schülerinnen etwas größere Ausflüge zu unternehmen, z.B. Shoppen in London zu gehen oder ins Theater in Watford zu gehen.
Alles in allem habe ich super viel Spaß und werde traurig sein, wenn ich wieder nach Deutschland gehe, doch werde ich immer meine schönen Erinnerungen behalten und die kann mir keiner nehmen.
Anishka and Taleesha from Kenya started to board at RMS in 2002 aged 13 and 11 respectively. Both left to go to university aged 18.
We chose RMS because it was an inclusive community, students of all faiths and none. The cosmopolitan ethos helped the girls to understand and appreciate different cultures and perspectives and to value diversity. They were many differences in religious and cultural beliefs, but the sensitive approach of the school made a large school seem much smaller and more personal. "School of many nations-Family of One" same ethos as their junior school in Kenya.
There was an all important link between parents, school, teachers, and the housemistress which ensured we were part of our daughters every step of development and education. The headmistress, Mrs Rose’s door was always open, for us and our daughters, if and when we had any concerns.
Boarding at RMS was a great experience for the girls-each boarding house was like a large family, a community in its own right, reflecting one of the basic values that of a family, which the school seeks at every opportunity. It also aimed at achieving an effective balance between privacy for the individual and development of communal responsibilities. The housemistress ensured that the girls settled in easily and was supportive, tolerant and sensitive to the girls during their puberty years. The sister monitored the health of the girls throughout their time at the school. The girls were vegetarians and excellent balanced meals were served-only sometimes they missed home cooked food.
RMS prepared our daughters by familiarising them social, religious, political and cultural issues facing them in the 21st century. They educated them on community, conservation and charity work. Taleesha was the overseas link prefect where she was encouraged to foster links with the wider world to help provide opportunities for sharing resources and experiences. Intellectual development was linked with physical, emotional and spiritual development, each of which was given equal weight at RMS. We were kept informed our daughters progress by full subject reports, parental meetings. As we lived in Kenya sometimes it was not possible to attend these meetings, yet we always got the progress reports.
The school provided a holistic environment for its boarders with focus on providing a well rounded educational establishment with sports facilities and cultural activities in a stimulating friendly home "it was a Home away from Home"
RMS exceeded more than our expectations. It brought out best in our daughters. In many ways going to RMS was a privilege, providing an excellent start in life in a safe and friendly environment.
The girls remember their time at school with happiness and pride. They remember their teachers with fondness, affection and respect for inspiring them and leading them through the various challenges and hurdles. More importantly, they have formed special friendships who will support them now and in future.
RMS, like us the parents, wants the best of its pupils. Our daughters have turned out to be young ladies, polite, smart, both exhibit confidence and leadership, but never arrogance. They do charity work and both look after the weak and the vulnerable. Through their conduct and achievements, our daughters are a credit to us.
No prospectus can ever fully convey the essence of any school, so please go and see the school where you will get a warm welcome and I am sure Mrs Rose will expand on the most exciting educational opportunity for your daughter and you.

ome from Germany, and I attended RMS for a year from September 2008 until June 2009.
In October 2007 I looked at the school for the first time together with my family. We were received by the headmistress, Mrs Rose, in a very friendly manner. Then two pupils took us round the school. I immediately liked the school because of the beautiful old buildings and the wonderful parkland, and the girls were very nice.
In July 2008 I was here again for Induction Week. I met my housemistress and the girls with whom I would live together in the boarding school for the coming year.
I was greeted very warmly. During induction week we were told what life would be like for us in the following year and we had sample lessons, which helped me a lot with my choice of subjects.
When I then arrived in September I was already acquainted with many things, knew some of the girls and could get used to my new surroundings more quickly. Nevertheless I was very homesick for the first three months and it was difficult for me to get used to the school and boarding.
At school and in my daily life as a boarder I got a lot of support from the other girls and from my housemistress. The teachers helped me too and explained everything again if I hadn’t understood it straight away the first time.
Of course my teachers gave me the same sort of marks as all the other pupils and didn’t consider the fact that English is not my mother tongue. That’s why my marks weren’t so good at the beginning of the school year, but my teachers had a lot of patience. They told me again and again that my marks were good considering that English is not my first language. That motivated me to keep on learning and not to give up.
In my free time I played a lot of sport, football and volleyball, and at the weekends I often went with other girls to London or window shopping in a mall. All in all I had a wonderful year at RMS. I made many new friends from all round the world and I also learnt how to study properly and enjoy doing it.

Im Oktober 2007 habe ich mir mit meiner Familie die Schule zum ersten Mal angeschaut. Wir wurden freundlich von der Schuldirektorin, Mrs Rose, empfangen. Danach führten uns zwei Schülerinnen durch das Schulgelände. Die Schule hatte mir wegen der schönen alten Gebäude und des großzügigen Parks sofort gut gefallen und die Mädchen waren sehr nett.
Im Juli 2008 war ich dann wieder dort für die „Inductionweek“. Dort lernte ich meine Housemistress kennen und die Mädchen, mit denen ich im kommenden Jahr zusammen im Internat leben würde.
Ich wurde sehr freundlich aufgenommen. In der Einführungswoche wurde uns erzählt, was auf uns im kommenden Jahr zukommen würde und wir hatten Probeunterrichtsstunden, die mir sehr bei meiner Fächerwahl geholfen haben.
Als ich dann im September ankam, war ich schon mit vielen Dingen vertraut, kannte auch schon einige der Mädchen und konnte mich schneller einleben. Trotzdem hatte ich die ersten drei Monate großes Heimweh und es viel mir schwer mich an die Schule und das Internat zu gewöhnen.
Ich bekam in der Schule und im täglichen Internatsleben sehr viel Unterstützung von den anderen Mädchen und meiner Housemistress, auch die Lehrer haben mir geholfen und haben mir alles nochmal erklärt, wenn ich es nicht gleich beim ersten Mal verstanden hatte.
Meine Lehrer haben mich natürlich benotet wie alle anderen und haben dabei keine Rücksicht darauf genommen, dass Englisch nicht meine Muttersprache ist. Dadurch waren meine Noten am Anfang des Schuljahres nicht so toll, doch meine Lehrer hatten viel Geduld. Sie haben mir immer wieder gesagt, dass die Noten gut wären dafür, dass ich nicht Englisch als Muttersprache spreche. Das hat mich motiviert weiter zu lernen und nicht aufzugeben.
In meiner Freizeit habe ich viel Sport gemacht, Fußball und Volleyball, und an den Wochenenden bin ich oft mit anderen Mädchen nach London oder in eine Shopping Mall zum Bummeln gefahren.
Zusammenfassend hatte ich ein wunderschönes Jahr an der RMS. Ich habe viele neue Freundinnen aus der ganzen Welt gefunden und gelernt wie man richtig lernt und Spaß daran hat.

My time here has finally come to its end. If I were able I would prolong my stay but I can’t. It is incredible how time passes by.
I haven’t only improved my English but also learnt important things for life. I have learnt to love and believe in myself and to never give up, to adapt to whatever might come, whether hard moments or enjoyable ones. I have experienced the importance of friendship and how to care . I have learnt to put other people and their needs before mine. This experience has opened my eyes to the world, the future and all the options that I have and dreams that I could fulfil and RMS has given me the confidence to confront them and to at least try to achieve my ambitions. I’ve become a much more versatile girl who has dreams and gains. But the most important thing is that I have got to know the pleasure of being a girl and it breaks my heart to leave my girls behind. Nevertheless I believe that I will use all the skills I have developed to whatever might come in life.
Neither Shakespeare nor business coursework scare me now. I’m proud of myself and my successes.
I’m taking many memories and lessons with me and will never forget RMS. It feels as I am leaving part of myself here with what has become my second home and family.
I’m not saying that boarding has been easy but I would give up my freedom at home to be close to my girls and my newhome and especially keep being the girl I’m here, a much stronger, independent and mature one. I’m proud of having been part of RMS.
I can’t thank you enough for giving me this opportunity and can only congratulate you for the perfect life and education that you offer the girls. Thank you for making me feel at home and making me the girl I am now.

Школа The Royal Masonic School for Girls расположена в богатом пригороде Лондона, Rickmansworth, в шести минутах ходьбы от метро и в сорока минутах езды на машине или метро до центра Лондона. Это дает учащимся школы возможность посещать столицу каждые выходные, а также среди недели, ездить на экскурсии в музеи и театры.
Школа находится в тридцати минутах езды от аэропорта Хитроу ( HEATHROW), что тоже очень удобно для детей, которые ездят домой на каникулы (которых значительно больше в течение года, чем в российских школах)
Школа является интернациональной, однако, более 70% учащихся - жители Великобритании. Семьи девочек, проживающих в интернате, часто находятся далеко от школы, что делает интернат более удобным вариантом проживания для детей. Условия интерната в нашей школе по уровню намного превышают условия проживания во всех школах, которые мне педставилось посетить. Даже такие всемирно известные школы, как Westminster' не могут сравниться с нашим уровнем проживания. Школа располагается в Rickmansworth парке, что позволяет ей иметь прекрасную огромную зелёную территорию. Девочки живут в современных, просторных, уютных, хорошо оборудованных домиках.
Атмосфера в каждом домике очень тёплая и приятная, так как персонал заботиться о том, чтобы девочки чувствовали себя как дома. Все девочки очень милые и доброжелательные,
и выражают искреннее желание помочь новым ученицам, что очень помогает быстро адаптироваться к новым условиям.
Для меня, проучившейся 9 лет в смешанной школе, вначале казалось большим минусом то, что эта школа только для девочек, но, проведя в ней больше года, я поняла, что в раздельной системе образования существуют определённые плюсы. В частности, ты можешь чувствовать себя очень расковано в любых ситуациях и в любой одежде , а также ничто и никто не отвлекает твоего внимания и не мешает сосредоточиться во время учёбы. После учёбы ты можешь общаться с мальчиками и выглядеть так, как захочется тебе самой, а не так, как к этому будет обязывать школьный этикет.
Внешний вид и материальное состояние, не играют никакой роли в повседневной жизни учащихся The Royal Masonic School for Girls, потому что строгость формы не дает девочкам возможности притеснять в правах или сравнивать с собой окружающих. В школе исключена какая-либо дискриминация. Цвет кожи, религия, национальность, акцент, индивидуальные особенности, социальное положение, не играют никакой роли. Все девочки считают себя равными, независимо от каких-либо факторов, в том числе и интеллектуальных способностей каждой из них.
Таков принцип этого учебного заведения.
The Royal Masonic School for Girls не является академической школой, но её большое преимущество в том, что она не отбирает себе только самых лучших и успешных детей, а старается в каждом ребёнке, пришедшем в школу, развить его индивидуальные способности , давая ему широкие возможности проявить себя и получить признание сверстников , занимаясь любимым и интересным для него предметом. Позиция нашего директора заключается в том, что каждый ребёнок по-своему уникален и у каждого есть огромный потенциал способностей и возможностей, и основная стратегия школы - суметь разглядеть и развить его в каждой девочке, предоставляя изначально равные возможности всем.
Одним из многочисленных преимуществ, существующих в моей школе, является колоссальная возможностиь каждого ребенка иметь определенное хобби. На меня лично школа произвела неизгладимое впечатление своими достижениями в спорте и широким выбором спортивных занятий. Огромных размеров спортивный комплекс, включающий в себя более чем 15 теннисных кортов, корты для сквоша, зал для настольного тенниса, гимнастический зал, батуты, тренажерный зал и открытые поля для атлетики, хоккея на траве, регби, футбола и многое другое позволяет учащимся открыть для себя их таланты в спорте.
Школа имеет сильные команды по таким видам спорта, как netball, теннис, бадминтон, хоккей на траве, фехтование, художественная гимнастика, плаванье, дзюдо, карате, Учащиеся нашей школы занимают почетные места в округе, а также успешно участвуют в городских и международных соревнованиях.
Помимо спорта и широкого выбора школьных предметов девочки имеют возможность заниматься музыкой: петь, играть на любом музыкальном инструменте, состоять в школьном хоре или (для желающих) петь в церковном хоре.
Школа также гордится своими достижениями в области театрального искусства. Многие участвуют в крупных театральных постановках, занимают призовые места в театрах Лондона и в его пригородах.
Большое место отводиться соблюдению традиций, многие из которых берут свое начало из далёкого прошлого. Праздники, школьные соревнования, дискуссии, походы, мероприятия на исторические темы, благотворительные акции переходят из года в год, на протяжении уже двух столетий и стали славной традицией школы.
Я считаю, что The RMS for Girls является очень хорошим вариантом для российских школьниц выучить английский язык, приобщиться к английской культуре и английским традициям, не чувствуя себя ущемлённой иностранкой (с чем вам непременно придётся столкнуться в лучших рейтинговых школах Англии ), а получая при этом истинное удовольствие от учёбы.
Эта школа может стать очень хорошим стартом, для дальнейшего поступления в престижные учебные заведения Великобритании.
Я очень благодарна моим родителям за то, что они выбрали для меня именно эту школу, так как сейчас я являюсь полноценным членом английского школьного сообщества оставаясь при этом русской в душе.

Школа расположена 30 минутах езды от центра Лондона, последная станциа метро в Лондоне.
Школа расположена в очень зеленым месте, там много парков и на самом деле иногда можно увидеть белок!
Школа сама по себе она очень большая, с церковью и главным залом для конференции или праздников который называется "Great hall".
Девочки все очень общительные. Там очень хорошие учителя для преподавания предметов.Иногда учителя и ученики проводят очень интересные эксперементы по некоторым предметам по химии, биологии, и физике. Так-же в школе есть большой спортивный центр с многими спортивными сноряжениями, каждая девушка может заниматься различными видами спорта, как хокей, теннис, бадминтон, волейбол, где имеются специальные тренажерные профессиональные приспособления для этих видов спорта.
Для всех девушек, которые приезжают из других стран приспособленны удобные дома с уютными комнатами, где они смогут жить, в так называемый "пансион" boarding house.
Дом расположен очень близко от школы и удобный.
Комнаты предназначены для одной или мах двух девушек. Все девушки, которые приезжают из-за границы, они могут остаются в выходные дни в школе, иногда они выходят вместе с учителями в центр Лондона или на экскурсию которую организуют учетеля.
Это одно из самых благоприатных мест для учебы, где девочки и девушки получают знания и воспитание «леди», потому как кроме занятий по дисциплине наук, еще они изучают музыку, шитье и многое другое, что необходимо для воспитания девушки.

大家好，我叫郭杨骊，我来自中国内蒙古。我来到这个学校已经一年了，我觉得这里很不错。刚来的时候我的英文不是很好，老师就帮我安排了英文课，现在上课已经没什么问题了。这里的老师都很友好，有问题可以随时问，老师都会很用心的解答。因为我是海外的学生，所以寄宿在学校，我们的housemistress很热心，她对我们照顾的非常周到。学校的校长也经常问我们在学校的情况，很关心我们每个同学的发展同时也鼓励我们取得更好的成绩。学校就像一个大家庭，很温暖，也很温馨。我很幸运可以生活在这里

Als ich RMS zum ersten Mal besucht habe, stand die Wahl zwischen Oxford und Rickmansworth. Es waren keine laengeren Ueberlegungen noetig.Ich wollte unbedingt zur RMS.
Waehrend meinem Aufenthalt in England habe ich nicht nur viel gelernt oder viele Freunde gefunden, sondern auch Erfahrungen fuer die Zukunft gesammelt.
Die Maedchen waren einfach nur toll und die Lehrer hilfsbereit und geduldig und ich freue mich, dass ich solche Leute kenne.
In diesen sechs Monaten in der RMS bin ich reifer und selbststaendiger geworden.
Ich werde die RMS auf jeden Fall vermissen und es wird etwas fehlen jeden Tag, wenn ich wieder zu Hause und auf dem Weg in die Schule bin.
Es war ein wunderschoenes halbes Jahr und ich wuerde es noch einmal machen, wenn ich die Chance dazu haette.
