Celebrations and Festivals was our theme for this term.
Bonfire Night - The children started by pumpkin carving, followed by making rockets flying high against a background of flick painting. The children collected wood and built a bonfire and made our very own “Ruspini Guy”, which later in the evening made a brief guest appearance at the RMS Firework Display before meeting his end! Discussion about safety around a bonfire, and use of fireworks allowed the children to talk about their own experiences, excitement and fears.
Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversaries - the children made a bar chart to plot their own birthdays. Most of the children celebrate their birthday in July and September.
What fun we had when we talked about weddings, the differences between both Christian and Indian weddings. Showing amazing creativity the children made wedding dresses in white and red, made and iced a wedding cake, complete with Bride and Groom on top!
Remembrance Day - brought about a new set of skills. The children made an outstanding array of poppies, we talked of wars past and present. Whilst holding their poppies, the children were amazing and at only 3 and 4 years old they observed the 2 minute silence.
Christmas – suddenly Christmas is upon us! So much will be happening in the next 3 weeks, Christmas Nativity rehearsals are underway, the craft activities abound and a sense of excitement building. The children have all worked so hard and never fail to amaze.
More exciting news to follow soon!
